I just got a 608LT to work on. my first ever. There is a major gas leak under the dash. I have a blow up view of the area, but it doesn't tell me how to get to the tank.
I am thinking I need to remove the steering wheel and unbolt the dash/cowl and lift up on the assembly, being careful not to pull the wires and cables loose. Am I on the correct path? Thanks for the help. Dale |

Yes you are correct. I had to do the exact same thing to replace the tank on my 608 LT too. You may have a little resistance to deal with but it'll come off. Make sure to spray the threads on the stud that holds the steering wheel on so the nut will come off without wringing off completely. I use WD-40 rust release or the regular works just fine as far as penetrating oil.

Good thing is that the tanks are plastic and don't rust out. Bad thing is that the rubber grommet in the bottom of the tank does deteriorate and then fall out or apart. That is probably the cause of your major gas leak.
