 Topic: Hd6 steering issue

I have an HD six runs fantastic and was steering perfectly fine but then the lever lost its adjustment on the right track
I adjusted the lever tightened it back up works great for about two hours and then it loose back up again on its own
I am not familiar with the system can somebody please break it down to help me locate the issue and fix the problem thanks in advance

You could check the adjustement rod the tread should be worn and with the vibration the rod release.

I checked the rod at both ends outside the seat and under the seat where the arm goes down into the casing and I seen no loosening of that rod
If I am correct that lever pushes the throwout bearing in the place but I’m not for sure I didn’t want to take off the cover till I knew what I was facing underneath there

The throw out bearing could be bad or the linkage has a bolt missing. Removing the covers is not easy, but that is the only way to know for sure. I am replacing clutch discs in our HD6E this week. Again, not an easy job, but easy versus other makes which require splitting the tracks.

Is it not releasing or is it not putting out power to pull that side. The adjusting is inside the case not the linkage under the tank. The easiest is getting operators book to see how the adjustments are made.
A company General Gear in Idaho that sells after market crawler parts may have books you can see on line. But many times you have to get a paper copy. But very important to know the serial number to get the right information.

I adjusted the lever linkage at the bottoms of the lever outside the seat
It tightened right up
The pedals works fine with no issues
But the lever loosened back up and I don’t want to tighten it up again because it loosened up to quickly for a linkage issue
The rod goes down under the fuel tank under the second plate and was hoping it was something simple in there that possibly could be the issue
Guess I’m gonna have to take the plate off and take a look see

Jamie. I had several of them. Do yourself a big favor, go on line and find a original AC manual. Do not bother with an aftermarket manual. I made the mistake of buying several different aftermarket manuals for them. All were dreadful, pages missing, pictures were just plain black, etc. Have fun with them. My grandson was running my last unit. They are fun.

I’ll see if I can find the original manual for that dozer I appreciate the information I do have one that I downloaded and print it out but I don’t know if it’s the original and yes I love my little dozer I’ve had it for five years and this is the first problem I’ve had with it

The shaft under the seat have spleene each end and you have a lever each end with sleene and the 2 lever are lock on shaft by a bolt

I want to find the issue of why it’s unadjusting on its own before I readjust
Just being cautious to not break something you know
I’ll be home Friday from work and I’ll go threw it with a fine tooth comb and post what I found
