Some pictures of filters I put on my machine to do away withthe cartridge filters that were stock, I am using PH8A spin on for both oil and fuel fillter media.
I also cut my own filter from the filter material shown for the filter under the muffler, I can get 2 filters out of each of the long filters shown to replace the wound string filter.
I made that filter plate out of 3/4 thich aluminum plate, drilled and tapped for the 3/4 threaded filter base bolt that threads through plate and is used to secure filter, also drilled plate for the supply line to feed filter, and bolt is drilled through center for return line fitting.

looks like a great upgrade. do you have any priming problems with the fuel filter having no air escape hole? i guess once it gets circulating, the air would work it's way out.

No problem so far with air being trapped, if I were to do it over I would mount the plate filter down but this was easy to mount this way. As Detroit uses constant fuel pressure and flow to injectors from gear pump it clears it's self quickly. I do pre-fill filters to exclude some air.
