I have just almost finished a complete rebuild on a hd 16 dp pulled the machine completely to pieces every last part ,nut and bolt off , sand blast and 2 pack paint all new bearings in whole machine new engine and every thing else. Is anybody interested ? It has taken about 3 years when i have time, spent about $70000 on this project .This would be the only 16 on the planet rebuilt to this standard. I still have to fit the blade ripper and build a a/c cab for it.

The undercarriage is D7G and Yes I do have brand new allis undercarriage but decided to go with cat. All hydraulics are commercial, toque converter is 16B, engine is a 6138T with a 12 counterweight crank shaft. Tried to send photos but having trouble will try again tonight to post some. All parts secondhand and new sourced from Phil Hunt Parts.
Thanks

Hi Faron
6138T as i understand it is what AC called the metric line of engines and was equivilent to the 21000 engine. What hp have you got her set up for ?
What work have you got lined up for her. You obviously had some major plan for her to go to such a major effort and expense to rebuild a late 60s crawler.
Mind you with the price of them now unless a man has a major contract to pay for a new one, we have to rebuild our older crawlers just to keep going !
At least you guys in Oz have a strong dollar; better than the US dollar so that must be some saving when buying parts or new machines.

Merv a 6138t is the last of the allis engines it has piston cooling through the conrod,Bosch injecter pump and it came with one very bad fault a 6 counter weight crank made in Japan most of these cranks have broken so i put a 12 counter weight crank out of the old 21000h engine. As for the hp about 240 hp .As for a job for it i think it will just sit in the shed and used on sundays it looks looks a waste of time and money but the job is almost finished and it would be a shame to put it to work if you would like pictures send me your email and i will forward some as this site will not load my photos .It has been a massive job but i have lots of gear to help (laths miiller press pullers welders radial drill sand blaster etc) and a bit of knowledge. I have no hyd pumps driven from the engine all pumps are driven from the torque converter.

Gidday Faron, you seem to know a bit about the 844 engines. A buddy told me the 17000 had bigger gudgeons than all the others. Would your engine have the same?

you have done an amazing job on your 16dp. I have an 16b and cannot seem to find uc parts anywhere. Was wondering if you could give me some pointers on using d7g parts.

I have new uc for a 16b chains grousers segments . The d7g uc goes on but the track frames have to be re drilled and made 3/4of a inch higher for the rollers to fit .I cut the old sprockets off the boss and made a plate to fit the d7 segments to and the right off set to line up with the track fram quite a large job but once done it is worth it just the aligator joiner alone is a good thing.I may be able to find you uc x army if you lika may be about $12000.
