I only see 3 of the 4 bolts that hold the 2 halves together. Is there a needle under the float?

Whats missing is the carb that belongs to that plastic venturi. I put together a carb for the D17 for a pull on May 12, and this is why it didnt run that good but still pulled 297 ft.
This is what it looked like when I took it apart And this is what it should have looked like. So I guess a M/S carb will run without a venturi. |

Doesn't the first pic show a brass venturi? The pic in your initial post that is.

It's been awhile since I rebuilt a Allis carb. Where do you get plastic venturies at ? Are they for pullers ?

Lonn; Ya the first pic shows the brass venturi in the parts carb. I got the plastic venturi from Barney Taylor, they were used in the 175 gas.

They will run without the venturi in them. Not good, but they'll run! Yeah, that first pic threw me also (from what I could see without my glasses) cause the venturi is in the carb. Polish up that stock venturi and it'll move some air. Clean them fuel bowls up and get rid of the crud. That'll make it stop!
