man, I knew it was too good to be true, 2005 JD l118 auto(hydrostatic) for just $300...with tranny problems..Hmm...how bad can that be,unit has just 140 hours.
well...the Tuff Torq T40 hydro unit is KAPUT.Spider gears chewed up..yuck.
A quick googling shows me I'm NOT the only one with this problem.Yeesh, this thing cost $4000 back in 2005, less than 150 hours and the $1000 tranny needs replacing !!!!
meanwhile my 40 year old Ford LGT125 is still going strong.
and I'm left with a 'so clean you could eat off' tractor with 22HP B&S twin,super solid deck,great tires..but no way to move it.....another 'project' taking up space,on hold, what to do....sigh.
Look out guys..check what hydro tranny is in ANYTHING you're thinking of buying...
