Well it looks like it's not going to be my year. I've got a 9690 agco Allis with the BF6L513R air-cooled deutz motor. Been a good tractor for me, had it around 10 years but yesterday it spun a bearing. No time to fix it now but going through agcos website I can't even get parts if I wanted to and after talking to a dealer sounds like that's kind of the story.

I am pretty sure they only use this motor in the 9170/9190 and the 9670/9690. All the combines had a different motor right?

I obviously havent opened it yet but I'm going to assume at least the crank is going to be damaged and probably one connecting rod so I'm looking for a line on parts or even used salvage motors. Or maybe I'm wrong and something else used that motor and could be available? If anyone's got any good ideas I'm all ears. Thanks!

Nichols Equipment was a dealer for Deutz engines, and power units, but they don't show up when searched. They were in the Twin Cities. If you have any Amish connections you might reach out to them.

this site says they have Deutz engines all over Europe and England... says they have "something" in the USA... Probably dont need a complete engine, but might be worth sending a note to them if they have PARTS or Damaged engine for sale ???

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

You need to reach out to a Deutz/KHD dealer, not an Agco dealer. Deutz and Agco separated years ago, and Agco today doesn't even acknowledge any of their Deutz partnership equipment. I can guarantee the parts are still readily available. We have a habit in North America of thinking all overseas manufacturers are oddball units, but I'd bet dollars to buttons the Deutz motor in that 9690 was way more popular worldwide than a lot of engines and tractors we consider more common over here. I have a really oddball Deutz-Allis square baler, a coworker has at least three (maybe four?) DX series tractors with the aircooled engines, and a neighbour ran a deutz round baler until it burned up last year. All of us go to the same. Deutz/KHD dealer for parts, and none of us has had trouble getting anything we need. Only problem is it's a few hours away, but they can usually help over the phone and ship parts. The couple of times I've tried going to the Agco dealer (which is much closer) they've been completely useless.
