WD/WD-45 Hydraulic Pump Questions

1. For all of the balls/seats, what is the best way to check them? Visual inspection, and then is there a good way to pressure test them individually?
2. Do you need to seat new balls to old seats (if I assume at least some of my old seats are okay)? EDIT: To clarify, using a hammer and drift... I know this needs to be done with new seats, but it's not clear with old seats/new balls.
3. Is the scoring shown below in the bore for the valves/sleeves a lost cause, or can this knocked well enough to work with careful use of something like Scotch-Brite? One of the scores is just deep enough that I can catch it with my fingernail if I really try.

I know Mack always said on here to not buy the complete kit from AGCO as you really only need a handful of parts for most of these pumps.

Those do look scored, but I don't know how critical that is. 
As far as the seats. When I rebuilt my pump I had a lot of issues. I kept the old seats. Bought 2 sets of new balls. I put in one set of new balls and gave them each a good wack with the hammer and brass punch to seat them. Then I put in the 2nd set of balls incase I deformed the 1st set.
