Replaced the filter today . Only needed one band aid . Shouldn't have told my wife it was easy peasy , I guess . When I first started I saw something green that looked out of place . Pulled out a 20" Matco pry bar UP41G . Tech must've left it in Nov when the dealer replaced our water pump . Gonna call the dealer Mon and tell him I'll return it for a free oil change . Wish me luck !

Dealer will probably deny that it was theirs since the tech has already had to pay for a new one out of their own pocket. Lots of luck on getting that free oil change.

If it was yours would you want to pay to get it back? I have left tools behind. Usually managed to get them back. A real nice gesture to return stuff that is not yours and not forgotten. If you tried to charge me for my own tool I would also not forget that.

Yeah I don't wanna get anyone in trouble. Not quite sure what to do. They did a good job and it was under warranty
Thanks

Mechanics buy their own tools and they will remember your gesture, better to be honest and they may get you a car wash next time it comes in rather than knock the weights off your tires or delay quick services.

Thanks guys. Have no receipts so don't know who worked on it. I'd like to return it to him in person. I'll figure something out.

Talk to the service manager.  He should know who worked on your vehicle.

The best gesture would be to personally return it to the mechanic. He will appreciate it. In my previous post I meant that the dealership wouldn't give a rat's arse about getting it back. Tools are expensive, especially when purchased off of the tool truck and the mechanic has to buy his own.

call the dealer , ask who the tech was that replaced water pump(they WILL know..).
why ? Wanted to come by and thank him for a great job.
WHEN you know who the tech is, drop by (few days later), thank him then ask did you lose  a tool back then ? IF so, THEN present him with the pry bar.
