Yes, I did replace the coil and condenser a month ago. It still misses after warming up.

Today all I did was change the points. It is clean and not grounded. Only the condenser and coil are attached to the point.

I did recheck everything. Not sure why, but I simply disassembled everything then put it back together. I was able to get a shock off the coil contact which was OK but not a hard snap of a shock. Must of had a contact and grounded out the coil somehow.

However, after timing the rotor gears there was nothing to the plug wires. I took off the distributor cap and with a screwdriver touching the coil contact, there was a shock. As well there is pressure on the cap contact rod, thus, I think this is OK.

Shop is hot and I am drenched. Back inside for a bit with a cold one.

Earlier I watched a "youtube" rebuild and the shock they had was an arc of about 1/2". Not what I am getting.

Maybe a rebuild however, not to keen on the idea of $325.

However, after reading the various threads, everyone who bought a rebuilt magneto mentioned it was a very good move.

The "youtube" on rebuilding a magneto mentioned "recharging" the magnets! Is that a thing?

Maybe that is why "my shock" is a pansy shock.

i have several B tractors all with MAGS.. I have replaced coils and condeners and points as needed over the years.. I had ONE that was REAL STUBBORN on starting after a few years.. I took apart the the IMPULSE SPRINGs were weak and not retarding the spark to TDC when you crank.. It was OK when i turned by hand.. I finally got it to work "OK"..... couple months later there was a guy on this site going out of business and was selling his REBUILT MAGS... had  3 or 4... Said complete rebuild with RECHARGED MAGNET / new coil / NIS condenser / etc. ... so i bought it... WOW... what a difference.. Engine rolls over ONCE and its running.. HOT SPARK.. FANTASTIC... Never thought i would get that much DIFFERENCE !!

Like them all, but love the "B"s.
