The little indie film that could just keeps chugging along at the box office, reaching a milestone few thought possible on Monday.

“Sound of Freedom,” the Jim Caviezel-led movie about former Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard’s exploits in saving children from child trafficking, reached the $150 million milestone on Monday, gaining a little over $2 million to surpass the mark, according to Box Office Mojo.

While the film has seen a little dip in ticket sales in the last week or so with summer blockbusters like “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” ruling the box office, “Sound of Freedom” still came in fourth this past weekend.

Surprisingly, the movie looks like it will beat the box office totals for the latest “Mission: Impossible” film, “Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One.” That movie was expected to do way better than it did for being a Tom Cruise movie, the seventh film in the “Mission: Impossible” series and that it didn’t have any social messaging, unlike “Barbie” or “Oppenheimer.”

It looks as though “Mission: Impossible” is simply a victim of scheduling.

But for “Sound of Freedom,” a movie that only cost around $14.5 million to make, reaching the $150 million mark is certainly an accomplishment that could catapult Angel Studios — the production company that actually wanted the movie release (we’re looking at you, Disney) — into the next level of movie making.

If you haven’t already -- and what are you waiting for — go out and see “Sound of Freedom.” You can check out my no-spoiler review by clicking here.
