At the yard, portable housing units plumbed to a common septic tanks(s). All piping is above ground, 3” white pvc. All units are elevated on blocks about 3 ft.
What should the ‘drop’ be from the floor where the commode is, to the top of the septic tank? |

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

1/8" in 8 feet to the tank will keep the 'Dirt' swept thru. Just make sure the pipes do not loop seal with droopy spots. As far as 'Drop' to to tank never knew was a spec for that.

Thanks, total run from toilet to septic tank is approximately 90 ft, if my arithmetic is correct, 11.25 inches of slope. Problem is they used 8 ft pipe, and sitting on blocks that are way to far apart, and over the years there are droops in the line.

Many places require 1/4 inch per foot just to "make sure" that you have a good slope...... if you now have 20 inches or so, thats fine... just get a couple dozen blocks and pieces of 2 x 4 and prop up between the present blocks... every 4 ft should work.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Steve is right. Pipe support every 4ft. The distance in vertical drop or from point A to point B is usually not a problem if proper slope is maintained. Over the years have seen many cases of sags or even slope in the wrong direction and the system still worked.

1/4" drop - 1/4 bubble on the run all the way to the tank .
If pipe is now warped you might have to support it but also at the blocks strap pipe to remove sag yet maintain the pitch so as to not have high and low areas . Tank itself will have about 2 1/2" drop between inlet and outlet of tank but a baffle at both . Now many places require a cleanable filter on outlet side of tank before drain field |

Unfortunately, I don't know much about plumbing, and when I need any help, I turn to specialists. Today the profession of a plumber continues to gain popularity, and it is not surprising. In every house, there are sewer systems that periodically break down. A few months ago, my friend advised me to clean the drain, as a lot of water had accumulated there because of the rains. I found plumbers who do hydro jet drain cleaning Anaheim, and for a good reason. These guys were able to remove all the water very quickly.

I just dig up the septic tank where uncle lives. Even with all the rain we've had, there's no water standing in the hole. Rains got nothing to do with drainage problems.
