Some 700 series forklifts were built around the D-15 Series II farm tractor chassis. They will have the big lever for forward/neutral/ reverse. The later and larger 700 series are built on the same power train as the 715 tractor/backhoe and has a torque converter.
If it is the first type an Agco dealer should be able to help. If it is the later, the transmission is Borg&Beck and Minnpar in Minneapolis may be able to help.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed
