So was washing the old Beast, found Right flat area of Hood and one spot on Left was Clear Degrading. Was thinking was MY bad Paint Application, then heat spoke to me. I had during Reman, removed the Self Destructing Under Hood heat and Noise Blanket, hanging in shreds and had doubts as to value to reinstall, got a price for a replacement Kit from KW, almost three years ago now, $1200. All Precut pieces, Adhesive, Retention Pins and Washers, Epoxy to glue Pins to Hood underside.
So I am currently In Process to strip off Burnt up Clear, have likely enough Blue to touch up a few bad spots, then still have 1/3 gal of Clear to mix and blend cover to hood edge lines the Clear. Called Kenworth dealer, Ordered Insulation Package, still ill over the price increase, now over $1800. Will NOT be dealing with this again. ![]() ![]() Then the Blinds Valances ![]() ![]() Can see the Holes where remounted a Stop Shelf as the original was removed. I found part of my hood insulation had been relocated to the air cleaner by mice, not enough to plug anything but still agrivating.

Color Flashed off and Clear went on, Two HEAVY Wet Coats, a Final Lighter Sacrificial for Cut and Buff final. As suggested by Body Shop, Allowed to flash to really tacky, PULLED Masking off Hood. Noted by Local Repair shop the Sectioned Repair line at a Hood Curve Line will settle while still curing and be less to deal with for Cut In and buff out by pulling mask NOW.

Your paint job on that hood looks slick a glass wouldn’t hardly need buffed from what I could tell but the bigger question is how did you keep the overspray off them clean white doors. Enjoyed reading about the truck as you were building it.

Set two old floor area fans at base of Partially open door as spray, shut it as air starts to clear. Is some dusting but using HVLP system uses less air less over spray.

Thanks DF on the Paint Comment, has some sputter spatter spots and is a defined Tape line so does need a sand and buff, will be pretty quick. Easier said than done as get older and shoulders squeal a little louder each year.
