Was going to post this in the other thread about paint but didn't want to hijack it.

Were the seats always painted the same color as the tractor?

I got my "new" seat yesterday and plan on running it through the powder paint line at work today or tomorrow.

Only orange they have there is "safety orange" which has quite a lot of red in it.

Lots of other colors available though.

My tractor is a 52 CA.

Thoughts?

Jared

Thanks for the info, Don. Figured so but wasn't certain.

May just have them paint it black or a rust color or just that safety orange that's available.

Looking to mostly just weather proof it as I have no plans to paint the tractor anytime soon.

It is my believe that most everything on the tractor was painted orange, except the muffler and rear rims. On several surviving originals I’ve seen, the starter, generator, seat, steering wheel, fan belt, electrical wires, everything was orange. Not to say they were all that way, but at least some of them.

The tractors were painted at the end of the assembly line in approximately 4 and a half minutes.  Overspray and runs were abundant.  They painted over everything!  Only lights and a few other minor items were put on after paint.
