Looking at a 9000 7 bottom pull type. Plow has very little use pretty much field ready. What is a fair price to offer?

You gotta figure what you're willing to give. If owner won't price it,don't feel bad about low balling him. As a rule,plows are obsolete today so not much market value.

Depends on interest... Usually local farm auction plows bring about $100/bottom. Other times $50/bottom. Then I’ve seen determined bidders go hundreds/bottom. AC made some of the better/best tillage implements per that era.

A few years ago I saw one at a consignment auction. It went for $1500 and it was the owner that bought it back!
I've always been told to let the other person make the first offer.

Fine if you can get shares and moldboards. Otherwise the plow may be too worn to use.

You also need to consider the rarity of the plow. There are not many of the correct 9000 series pull-type plows around and up for sale so don't go too low. I feel you are getting a heck of a deal if you get it for $700 but don't be shy about offering more. Where you gonna get another opportunity like this? I gave $900 for one plus the trucking about 20 years ago.

I bought a semi mount, six bottom a few years ago for 500 bucks. Looks like it hasn't plowed 50 acres in its life. There's a seven bottom on bis-man online for sale for 700 bucks. Been on there for quite a while. Darrel

I have to make a correction. The one on bis-man online is an 8 bottom, pull type. They are calling it a 2500, but I don't know if that is correct. Can't tell much by the picture just what kind of shape it's in. I think that thing would make my 8550 snort in my soil. I had my six bottom behind my 8070 FWA, and when I dropped it into some sod, the front end of the tractor came off the ground, and it's even got the full weight package up front. Darrel

I don't know about you guys... don't get me wrong, I'm glad to know prices and finds like yours are possible, but around here, a worn out ancient 2-bottom Dearborn (or call it whatever make you want by changing the rattle-can color of it) brings $650, an A-C B or C with a stuck motor can easily fetch $3,500, can't find a good grain drill (one that's not all rotted out) for under $3,000, old plate-type 2-row corn planters start at around $1,000 for the bad.... Auctions aren't much better. I'd love to buy out your way, even with freight it'd be a steal. An A-C 6080 not far from me is going for $16,000 FIRM, that's within $800 of a brand new JD 5045E like ryanschott just bought. I'd love to be out your way, lol!!! I know, I know, it's all a matter of perspective, right? Right...

And yes I know the 6080 is better than double the HP of the 5045, all sorts of other differences even beyond color lol... It just hit me kinda funny is all.
