Hello Forum brains. I've tried on line support with no success. Then I recalled I have access to the entire USA for direction on most engine issues. Hopefully someone can direct me. There is a summary below of all that I have done. Honestly, there are dealers with a few miles of me with labor charges $100/hr which I would like to avoid. Especially if I can manage the repair. I'm a novice in mechanics so if someone replies talk as you are a teacher in a class. LOL. Engine will not crank. Battery? - fully charged. Solenoid? replaced not long ago and there is no "click, click, click" like a solenoid failure. Key and switch? replaced. There is a faint click. Safety interlock switch replaced. Nothing. Listening again, the faint CLICK appears to be in the harness under the right side, on the switch key side. Hustler Raptor model 935759 purchase date March 2018. Am I on the right track? What have I missed? Thanks Julian from eastern NC |

Since nobody else has chimed in I'll mention a few things. I know nothing about the Hustler Raptor, but did find manuals online. In the operators manual on page 4-2 it mentions a fuse, I would check it first. It also mentions several safety start interlock switches on page 3-2, not just the seat switch but also park brake switches and a deck clutch switch. If you look in the parts manual there are also two relays in the wiring harness, but I didn't find a wiring diagram so it is only a guess that one of them may run the start solenoid. If it were mine I would be a little confused at this point, and I would be a little hesitant to just start throwing parts at it. If it is not the fuse you need to start testing things. I have a combination test light/circuit tester I like to use that has LEDs to tell me continuity or voltage, with 3 different lights for 6, 12, and 24 volts, plus two lights for straight or reverse polarity.
In short, several different things that could be wrong. Without a wiring diagram it is difficult to say exactly where to test, but if you can locate all the safety switches and check them it would be a good start. Ted |
