Folks, I used the truck lift as an aid to do some paint removal. This area gets stone chips and a lot of salt.
Well I am not a painter so still learning about spraing on chip guard. Sounds easy. But I have several failures with this product. Stripped and tried again. Regards, Chris and Cheryl

Better than my own paint work.
I gave up on attempts to control rock dings, will just run em for a trophy then to the shredder they'll go.

Guys, I may try to apply the chip guard on these lower rear areas of the truck again. This time very light coat and let it dry for a day or so. We have been enjoying the new pup in the shop. Duke may be the nicest Golden we have owned. Still being a pup for sure. Learning and growing.
Sometimes we have to rest.

tadams, folks, Duke has us wrapped. I had a small area on the truck paint wrinkle. Again I probably had the gray paint a little too thick. Going to wait a day between coats of the clear chip guard. Please remind me to not use this stuff again! Maybe it will last till we get a new truck? No snow here yet. Most of our family will be here for Thanksgiving dinner in the shop. Folks, Thanks giving in the shop was a success. The heated floors are the ticket for a comfortable place for our family to be comfortable. OK more baby pictures:
Also had 7th birthday party for our Great Grand daughter yesterday, hence the hats!
I have the wood for the sliding doors drying in the sugar house. The white steel and trim is ordered for the bottom. I need to get the 2 x 4 wood for the frame work. Regards, Chris and Cheryl

Guys, Dog talk today. I have installed an antique dog training system. Not sure the age? maybe 20 years. Never used system found on Facebook. Ok so it came with 500 feet of small Guage wire and a roll of much heavier wire that was 1000 feet. I chose to go with the heavier and layed out the wire, tested it above ground and then proceeded to dig a trench a few inches deep to bury the wire. That was a month ago. The ground was muddy in our clay. The rental digger did not work well. I changed over to a single bladed gas powered small rototiller that kind of worked better than digging by hand. Then had to hand bury and cover the wire. I am too old for this stuff! I put flags where the wire is located. That was not where they were supposed to go they are supposed to be inboard where the collar beeps some distance from the wire. Makes sense after I read the book! Duke has been bringing the flags back to the shop during his play time. Just started the first training sessions with the pup. Going ok. Collar is in beep mode only and when we hear the beep we bring him back away from the wire. Seems to bed working ok. a week or so of this and then we move to the shocking portion of the trading. Duke seems smart and is very sensitive. More on the outcome of this later. Our previous dogs, we let run loose. Not the best for other families in the neighborhood. The neighborhood has gotten more families and more dogs, and is more like a rural subdivision since we moved here almost 40 years ago. Guess we are trying to be better neighbors?

Allis folks, Duke has me almost trained! He stays with Cheryl a lot in the shop. He sponges treats off her easily.
He doesn't try to fit on the carts lower shelf often now that he is about twice the size:
Materials for the 6 foot wide x 10 foot high sliding doors:
Getting some of the frame work cut to rough size. Planned and cut to width and rough length.
We had some cake for our anniversary and these napkins were brought to the party. Notice the Allis at the bottom center! 54 years.
The shop viewed from the tractor mini shop. Yes winter and cold temps. The D14 fired up and I plowed again this morning. Nice to warm up in the shop kitchen at 70 degrees!
Duke likes the snow but doesn't stay out long at 20 deg F. He has his bale of straw that he plays behind.
So the doors are starting to take shape. I have temporarily screwed this together as I cut the pieces to size. Thinking of using a structural adhesive between all the parts. May be over kill?
I checked this door frame for square using a 6-8-10 triangle method after it was tacked together. It was spot on. I had used a framing square as I assembled the hemlock frame boards in two layers. The white steel will be on both sides, and the hemlock will be above to match the walls. Since The doors will be 1/2 inch off the floor, I realized that the top dimension of the white on the bottom of the doors will be 1/2 inch higher than the existing walls. I asked Cheryl about the detail and mentioned that the white metal needs to be 1/2 inch shorter to match. She nodded in agreement. So I have to cut the sheets off.
The rest of the door project seems to be coming along ok. I keep measuring and checking the opening and the hangers/ rollers. Good chance they may work, move and fit and look ok. It came to me today that these doors (built mainly by Duke, I helped a little) may help define some areas in the shop for Cheryl to feel more comfortable and safer too.

Allis folks, worked on details of doors. Added a cross nailer for the hemlock boards.
Door hangers/ rollers, This is both centered on the door. I may move the left one more left? Considering taking the frame apart and gluing and the adding reinforcement in the upper section. Get one chance to over kill the project! I did cut two panels shorter to make the existing wall trim and the door align better. More checking and double checking.
Cheryl and I doing what we do best set and visit a little. She has some odd things to discuss but laughs a lot!
Went out to lunch at the new Maple Timbers Coffee shop in Albion. Good food good folks! Side note we will not be making syrup this spring. 25 years has been a good run ( pun intended) :)
