While running, but not moving, by '50 B has a noticeable knock or thump about every second or so... at about 1/4 throttle. I can't really hear it, but I can feel it thru my feet. I guess it's there when it's moving too, but I don't notice it as easily. Any ideas?

Throw out bearing would be my 1st guess, try greasing it and see if it changes the amount of knock or thump.

A loose front pulley wil feel like that also, loosen belt to check it. Cal in Ct.

Thanks guys. I'll check both. Joe, I'll show I'm a rookie and ask how to grease the throw out bearing. I'm sure I could find it in my manuals, but I'll ask here first. Thanks again.

I had a friend with similar problem. sounded like it could be in trans, rear end or pto. we pulled it apart & found out that the u joint in the drive shaft was siezed up. put in different drive shaft from his parts & problem was solved.

Murph, There is a hole in the bottom of the torque tube with a snap in cover. Pull the cover and you will be able to see the TO bearing. Some newer bearings are not greaseable. You'll just have to look.

I greased the bearing today and the knock stopped! Thanks for the help guys. I also removed the cultivator frame, so now my next project is a step. I'm tall, but that's still a long first step.

If the noise went away after greasing the TO bearing; you may want to schedule a splitting and replacing the TO bearing in the near future. Have seen several were a loose TO bearing ate up the collar it rides on (and a few that it wore out the fingers on the pressure plate). Then you have an expensive fix.
