Wow, you sure were lucky. I remember reading about an accident like that in NY w/in the last two years that killed the guy. He had to much weight in the hay wagon, brakes not adjusted right, and steep hill. It pushed him and jack knifed. I weighed a dry 4X4 round bale. It weighed 550 lbs. You've got more in that wagon than your D14 weighs I think. Plus that's a thrower wagon, there's a lot of weight to hold back empty. Tim

Tractor data shows a weight of 3500 for the d14 so you are right the hay alone would out weigh the tractor.   That has me thinking as I was planning on pulling a hay wagon with my d15. I hadn't really thought about that because we always just used the 100hp 4wd Same tractor to pull the hay wagon back in the good old days. I think that was because you where lucky to get a Same to do that much work. The difference between a Same and a Deere is with Same you did get what you paid for.

may I ask how steep the hill was?  Also, can someone point out some good literature on tractor safety?  Seriously, I know how to repair these things, but I'm a city boy, I could use some literature on how to be safe on tractors.

Wow glad you are OK. Friend did something similar with a 400 bu gravity bin that was too heavy for a D-14 but only ended in a jackknife with a damaged hood section. This is why my new 600 bu. gravity wagon has four wheel surge brakes.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

After reading this thread and wondering about HOW you're going to get the D-14 upright, I gotta bump up the priority to get working brakes on my 6by10 tandem dump trailer! I only use it to haul horse manure 3 miles at < 25MPH BUT I just spent $$$ putting ALL new brakes on my 97 F150.
Would like to see pictures of you getting her back on all fours .
I'm thinking you lock the front axle, then pull it sideways ?

I am guessing it is already up right.   I would have tried to block the rear tires. Then hook a chain on the front somewhere and pull it backwards and up with a center of rotation on the back wheels. That is how I flipped my 4 wheeler once.
