Getting ready to put in a 10 acre garden for a neighbor in sod. going to disk it up real good. I know it will take forever with a disk but it's been years since this old girl has seen any real work so Im going to make her earn her keep. Pulled this old disk out of the fence row, and surprisingly, all the zerks took grease except 2. pumped a whole tube in her so she ought to be ready to go. It's deffinatley seen better days, and is missing some adjustment linkages but there's another I can use for parts and think I might shoot some paint on it. trouble is, what is it?

Oh yeah, I need to get a hammer strap for my hitch, but a TSC shackle will do for now,

Drug one exactly like it over hundreds of acres many years ago. It will do a good job, but your going to have to weight it down some on that sod your working. Have no idea what brand was. Ours had just that much paint on it when we were using it. Can't ever remember a tag or any ID attached to it. This would have been in 50's through early sixties.

Case or Oliver? I'm betting on Case. Look for an eagle symbol on a casting somewhere. Not JD that I've ever seen.

Dad pulled the 6 foot Allis disc close to half mile to the "other place' for years but he stayed on the dirt shoulder whenever he could. He stayed in 3rd gear too if I remember right. Probably just sharpen the discs up a bit.

It sure is not an Oliver disc.

If you want to use it for garden this year you really need to plow it. No mater how much you disc you will still will have to fight the grass and compaction. The second best if your not going to plow is to spray it with Roundup several days before you start discing.
