I made a 3 sided box type unit to use with my snap coupler carrier. The idea is for the grandsons to ride in there with their mother & Gammy and toss candy to the folks along a parade route (still legal so far). I want to put a chain across the rear opening like the ones used to keep the sides of wagon beds and grain truck sides from breaking over when loaded. I am looking for that weird bent up piece of steel rod stock that joined the left and right chains together in the middle. It would pass through a link and you folded it over and it would stay in place due to an over center type loading.

Dave - I know what you mean. My Dad used those on our grain wagon. Had a rod in front and chains with those "buckles" in the middle and back. Haven't seen them in years. Mike

They use a similar connector on tire chains. Check out: |

Neil that's the weird little thing. I'll try to bend one up. That offset in the bends is really touchy as to weather the chains will stay together or not.

David, Don't forget to add the extra ring that the end of the rod slips under to prevent it from coming unhooked.
