Okay, I bought the new cable asm - housing, ends, and cable.  And it doesn't turn.
Tach is in pretty rough shape anyway, but now I have this burning desire to get the damn thing working and it is driving me (more) crazy........so I came here of course to bug you guys.......
Must be the drive - I can see from the parts book that there is a "nipple" and "adaptor" - one of these must be bad - would it be the adaptor p/n 70228768?  I have a manual steering gas engine.  The nipple is just a spacer or something isn't it?  I can't get the dang thing off to get a look at it, it's really tight and I'm afraid of breaking something.  If I manage to loosen the hex nut, will the nipple and adapter come out with it?  What the helms does the adapter look like?  Could it have a square hole that is worn round?  Will I ever stop asking questions?
Sorry that last one was my conscience speaking........

cheers,
Creek
