Chris, you must have a bunch of literature, or is this available online? You sent me some information on the availability of a Quickhitch for the 8000 series. You said there is nothing given for the 8070 FWD?

At some point AC offered free FWD as a marketing gimmick on the 8000's.

I don't think you are talking about the hole tractor. FWD was a $919.00 option on the 8070 in late 1985.........

Pg. 137-38, Norm talks of the dealers doing demos to try to convince the farmers FWA was worth the extra $7500.

Jordan, I'm just posting what is in my price list from August of 1985. I know Norm's book said 7500. but that is not what my price book is telling me. I'm not trying to discredit you or Norm in any way......... Mark

That is a pile of 1985 dollars. Going with inflation 200 hp cost about that much today but with way more comforts and features.

for a couple thousand, the 8070 seems to be a cheap upgrade from the 8050....was surprised they were that close in price. |

I believe more 8070s were made with FWA than were two wheel, though I'm sure someone may know if I'm right on that or not. At least around here, most 8070s were FWAs because Allis was throwing it in as a no cost option for a while. And in terms of dollars, yes it WAS a pile of 1985 bucks, but in the 80's a pack of gum was a pile of money for most farmers! And the Allis was still cheaper than green or red, so it was a no brainer for us when we needed horsepower.

In '86, Our local dealer had an 8010 FWD that had been on his lot for over a year. He brought it out to the farm for us to tryout, but Dad wouldn't let us use it. The list on it was over 56,000, we offered him 29,500. He laughted at first, but then two weeks later accepted our offer. It had the Duetz-Allis stickers and they were trying to turn everything into green. We also got a 6080 FWD with loader at about the same deal. |
