We got this old girl in a bad way they run it out of oil in the right hand side final drive we replaced front idler rolers bearings seals unsesed track adjuster and it is working fine now the littel 2,71 gm run sweet. cheers john

i like it. thanks for the pics, i have never seen a hd5 with a cable blade. i have one that needs the same repair because no oil got to the outboard bearing and ate the shaft. hope to start on it soon. good luck with that awesome piece of iron

Watch that upper outboard bearing also , for when that one fails it breaks the rear housing . Seem about 5 machines like that so far that i have looked at.
 Excapt for having soomething uneque in cable dozer I sure would have a set of hyd cyl on it for the blade .

Hi everyone  it is one of the first hd5 built i like the cable blad no hyd problems the winch is taged heil and co road machinery milwaukee and buck eye blade it would have been shipped to australia as is thanks for the tip on the upper bearing i have a grease nipple on it. cheers john

Had a 5B with a 9' blade and over track lift cylinders , madea frame in front similar to your cable front and put 2 - 3" X 34" cylinders on it , used front pump and mounted hyd tank ahead of rt side battery box with hyd control valve off that to easy hand reach.
 On those rear axles , 2 styles one with small spline and other with large spline , also earl ones were rifle drilled to oil outboard bearing.  Anothe rplace to be sure you are getting oil or change over to grease is the steering clutch lever bearings as they are oiled off rear housing through a felt wick.  Another felt wick on the pilot bearing on end of crank on the 2-71.
