 Topic: Hand clutch oil seal install

I am putting an oil seal in the WD. I wrecked the first and seem to be wrecking the second. Is there any tips like filing the edge of the seal, or sand the case, or put the seal in the freezer?
It seems to catch on one side and I can,t seem to knock it in.

Are you replacing the one on the side of the torque tube for the shifter shaft or the two on the engine clutch shaft?

I assume this is the one around the shaft coming out of the right side. I did not have any issues with mine. I did both WD's, while the frame rails were off. Probably used a bigger socket or flat plate to cover the entire seal face then good solid tap while the seal is square. If the case is open you might pull it into place with a bolt, nut and washers? Pictures might help?

I replaced Mine last spring and didn't have any issues. I had the torque tube off and sitting on a bench (ahem 6x6's on the floor...) When I changed mine.
Taking the risk of telling you what you already know, either get a prefect sized sock just a tad smaller than the OD or a seal drive, put a thin coat of gasket sealer on the outside of the seal and in the casting. Then gently and straight drive in the seal.
Since you're having trouble, maybe you can feel a burr or a little gunk inside the casting??

Thanks for the advice. I had a burr on the case it turns out. I lightly sanded the edge of the case, lubed with high temp seal loctite and managed to knock it in with the end of a 2x4. thanks for the tip.
