 Topic: Parts and service for 7000 series

Gentlemen, It has been a while since I have been on here so here is a re-intro. I will be retiring from the Marine Corps in less than 3 years and we are planning to move to the Huntsville, Alabama area. My plan is to still work and start a very small (10-40) acre organic farm.
I grew up in western Nebraska and we farmed about 300 acres of dry edible beans, corn, and sugar beets with a little bit of hay thrown in. We ran all Allis tractors; a 190xt with a loader, 7030, two 7040s, and a 7080. Growing up I also ran a 180 gas, D19 gas, 4630 Deere, 1370 Case, and a few IH 800 and 900 series tractors.
Now to my question. Since I have been away from farming for almost 20 years, are there any dealers or that stock or work on the 7000 or 8000 series tractors? I'm not looking for specific dealer names but do the AGCO guys still offer parts? I would love to get back into orange but if you have to drive 2 hours each way for a part it makes the other colors a lot more appealing. I realize this is a general question, but I have a lot of catching up to do.

AGCO still carries quite a lot of parts for ACs. My closest dealer is almost 2 hours away, but they ship out parts pretty quick. As far as repairs, any farm equipment dealer (regardless of brand) could work on them - they don't have any computers!
A 7000 series is awful big for only 10-40 acres. For a farm that size, a 6060 would be more than enough in my opinion.

Thanks for the answer. I agree that the 7000 and 8000 series would be too big, other than maybe the 7000, 7010 and 8010. The problem is that the D-17, D-19, and the 190 and up tractors are all collectors items now and they cost more than the bigger later tractors. I have been eyeing the 6060s and 6080s, but you tend to go back to what you know. I remember the drives from Bridgeport Nebraska to Torrington Wyoming for parts, basically a whole day shot and it was always at the worst time possible.

any size tractor will work for except the real big ones. and the 7000/8000 series depending on their shape can be had for less $$$ that the smaller ones usually! I can get parts still for all my tractors thru dealers or on this site from forum members.

Ha, I would love to but there really aren't any jobs where I grew up, for me or my wife. Plus she is from North Alabama and her fingers and toes don't agree with the below zero winters or even May sometimes. I would love to do row crop again but the farm is out of the family and I will never have the cash to start up a corn or bean farm.

I usually just have them drop ship from the warehouse, order over the phone with a card. I often have the parts within 48 hours sometimes next day. its either that or drive an hour. rather spend the time doing other things, and even if there was a dealer closer its not like they would have it all in stock anyway. system works pretty good. I havent had any trouble with part availability yet on my 7000.
now finding a mechanic that knows AC, might be a problem for some areas. dont want to pay for a new techs education via repair bill!

If your close to Athens , Alabama. You will be fine. The Haneys are old AC guys there. They will have parts and service for you there. There blood runs orange

I can't not mention Sandy Lake Implement, which sponsors this web site, has been great to buy from for many years. I have never been there but they have quickly shipped many later model AC tractor and combine parts to me, AGCO, aftermarket and used. The knowledge of the parts folks is great as well as Bill the mechanic whom I have spoken to a time or two. Also there are many bone yards out there with lots of Orange equipment. I don't think you can go wrong with Orange, I have a 7060 that would have cost at least twice as much if it were a JD 4440 or 4460 of the same quality. Thank you for your service to this great country!

That's great, I'm looking at property around Athens and having a good dealer near by is a big plus.

There's a new generation at Haney's. Mr Haney is still there and still great to work with but the son has taken on the business Like most of Agco dealers theres a lot of Massey and new to me short brands

I made a call to Haney's and gave them a run down of what I was planning and if they stocked parts/serviced Allis tractors. The parts gentlemen was very excited and made sure that I knew they still did and had the guys to service them. Looks like I'll be sticking to my roots if they are still there in 2020.
