would fit on the front of a C?  I am looking for car tires.  I use it mainly for grass cutting and the 3 rib I have digs up the lawn too much.

Car Space Saver

I would use something like these donut spares you can order. Width on 125 should be pretty close to a 5.00-15 so those should work and be easier on the grass. The tractor may have had 4.00-15's I think originally but going a little it wider might help it float a little more.

4.00 -15s could have been the original tires back in the day when tire width was the rim width. The tire manufactures changed the width designation to show the maximum width of the tires.

Too wide of a bias ply tire for the rim will make it round like a doughnut, not so much for belted tire.

Besides a car tire there are turf tires. I know in Ag tire handbooks from the big tire makers there is a table of acceptable and preferred rims for all their tires. There should be a similar car and small truck tire handbook with the same table.

As someone posted the 15 inch tires on older VW's work great.  I have those on a C.  Also, three rib tires that are worn down are fine.  You should be able to fine those cheap.

My B doesn't tear up grass with 3 rib tires on front, and my 8N sure doesn't. It has NDT Jeep tires on it!
