New mower has label pointing the end with the shear bolt toward the tractor.  There are two issues with this:'

1) The shear bolt is on a 1.5"+ protrusion off to the side of the Ujoint and nearly hits the top link bracket attached to the rock shaft.

2) This would cause water to run into the PTO shaft because the open end of the sheath would be pointed upward.

I intend to mount it in the other direction because there is plenty of room for the shear bolt protrusion on the implement, and I want the sheath pointed downward to preclude water intrusion.  I also may install my new slip clutch on the implement if the geometry/length works.  There's no way the slip clutch would clear the rockshaft attached top link bracket.

Issues?

A slip clutch belongs on the implement, not the tractor PTO shaft.  An over-running clutch goes on the tractor's PTO shaft.

With a slip clutch you don't need the shear bolt set up.

we alway put the shear bolt on the mower deck end.... many mowers have the gear box INPUT shaft as ROUND with the bolt thru it... not a HEX drive like the tractor PTO.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

That's where I intend to install it.  The PTO shaft itself already came with a shear bolt and markings indicate to attach it to the tractor.  But I thought that was not the best approach, and not suitable for a 3 point modded CA.

Thanks, This one has a normal 1 3/8 PTO 6 spline on the implement.

I'm thinking I may just turn the shroud around if I ever have to modify it (shorten, etc.) so other's (brothers, nephews, etc.) don't install it with the shear bolt toward the tractor.

Likely that's what happened at the factory, got it put together backwards...  Don't operate it that way, or you'll un-mow your lawn...
