What is the best method or solvent for de guming values, springs, etc.  Tearing into a motor that is "stuck" but not with rust but an amber colored glue like substance.  I have had the pistons soaking in the cylinder walls for 3 months now with first tranny fluid and then brake fluid and it won't even touch the glue holding the pistons in place on the cylinder walls.  The valves, springs and head are just a gummy glued mess.  I took one valve to the wire wheel on my bench grinder and managed to get most of the mess off but still not the best.

Dip type carb cleaner. Gunk brand Hydro Seal is good. Comes in a 5 gal bucket.

You might try some oven cleaner. That's some nasty looking stuff there.

I never thought of oven cleaner.  I think the JB 80 and Kroil I have been spraying on everything to just get stuff loose made the gummy ness even worse.

A hot caustic soda based cleaner will cut that off any cast or metal parts . EXCEPT . DO NOT USE ON Aluminum or base Matal parts as it will disolve them.
 Might be time to thake them to moror rebuilder or machine shop that has a hot tank and get them cleaned.
 Aceatone or MEK might also cut it but fumes need to be protected against breathing .

If you are an old pfart like me and time is not of the essence and you have an electrolysis tank sitting rond, I would give that a whirl.  For that kind of mes Iwould try spiking the vat with a little lye also.

If the pistons are cast, remove everything you can from the block and try electrolysis but I don't think it would do the pistons any good if they are aluminum.

Try turpentine. The real stuff, made from pine. Not fake, check the can to be sure.
 
It really worked for me in a similar situation.

the cheapest stuff is gasoline.. many will say "NO", but get 2 gallons in a bucket and soak the vavles and spring in that overnight. use a tooth brush the next day and then wipe off whats left.. I normally wire brush afterwards for a bright finish.. Been doing that for 40 years.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I use the 5 gallon pail of carb cleaner, and oven cleaner. I would take the head to a machine shop and let them clean it. By the look of the valves and seats they will need to be cut anyways. The pail of carb cleaner is expensive if you are not going to use it very much. It will also eat thru the metal bucket after a while. I would try oven cleaner on the bores. Are you sure that it is the glue like substance that has it stuck.

I plan on taking the head somewhere and having it "boiled" or hot tanked.  Just need to find a spot around here that does it for sure.  I actually didn't think the valves look that bad but it is hard to tell with the seats because of all the gunk.  The story on the motor from the previous owner is that it was free within the last year and would turn over but not with the spark plugs in it. Well the reason it wouldn't turn over with the spark plugs in it was because of stuck valves and a bent push rod.  There is not a lot of rust on the cylinder walls but there was a lot of gunk and this dang glue like substance. I guess someone told him to put vegitable oil in the cylinders to keep them free and I think that and the PB blaster that he dumped in the top of the cylinders combined with carbon and sludge in the motor and made cement.  I plan on pulling the motor off to break it down and really see what is going on.  This is a motor on a combine so until I get the motor off to pull the pan, I can't really so what is going on from the bottom side.

I know it's a little crude but I use dawn dish detergent. I found it works good for grease, gum, oil with dirt. Might work for the valves but wouldn't want to try it on the head
