Hey everyone,
How does one replace the track pins and busings on a Model M? I check with Ag-Co and found that pins and busing available, but the prices are VERY high. Is there anything else that can be done? Hidden supply in a basement? Substitutions? Crying?
Any help would be greatly appreceiated!

Wow, I'm really surprised they are still available at all! What were they asking for enough to do the machine?

the pins and bushings may be able to be turned. feel the top of the pin and see if it feels like it has wear. if it doesn't, they can be turned, new sprockets and away you go.

The bushings are $150 each and the pins are $39 each... And it needs a whole 72 of them... As you can see, thats a boat-load of cash...
Ill pose the question again - cheap substitutes?

Machinist lathe and stock to work with - gotta be cheaper than AGCO if you have the time. Thoughts?

Might be cheaper to change the pitch of tracks, cut your sprockets accordingly. Pins and bushings can be made cheaper at that quanity than priced. HTH Tracy Martin

If hey are getting them from somewhere then there has to be another supplier out there . Find the size and check with other track dealers to see what they have .
Rail height is the other part of it , new pins and bushing in rails that are worn down to limit can cause other problems. I welded up one set or rails for my HD5 and got a few more years from them but eventually a couple cracked . Other thing is to weld new rings onto your old sprocket centers for a different model machine . Just finding pads and track that have the same ID / OD so they fit rollers and idler . |

My Dad worked for a tiler who just cut his own from stock. Dad spent a winter part time back in the 60's or early 70's helping him do that to his Cat dozers.
