I'm looking for a nice set of fenders for a restore. Does anyone know if D14 fenders are the same? I'm hoping to widen my search. I know 17 fenders are different. Also need the front cowling and wondering if they're the same.

I'm pretty sure the front cowling is shorter on the D15, than that of the D17. Rick

Unfortunately it is. I've checked my d17 and all the sheet metal is different. I don't have a 14 so I'm not sure if the pieces from that would fit on a 15. I know a d12 is radically different also.
thanks

D14 fenders are the same as D15 Series I AND Series II.  The only differences with Series II are the grab handle/headlight mounts and the taller fender mounting plates.  The fenders themselves are identical.

You are right Myron on the D15 series II fenders being the same as D14 and D15 series I tractors but the D14/D15 series I don't have the handel/head light holes drilled in them.

As they have stated above the 14 and 15 series 1&2 are exactly the same shape with the exception of a few holes on the series 2 but good luck finding a set. I have been searching for a couple years now with no luck finding any of the above for my 14 resto project. If you happen to find to 2 sets let me know.

If yours are not too far gone, someone who does/did bodywork can fix them up.  I've done that with several of mine.  He pounds out all the dents and replaces metal in any rusted out areas.  It's hard to find good used ones, so sometimes this is the best thing to do.  Mine come back as good as new!

Make sure to tell him to weld in new metal and not just fill with bondo - your headlight would not have a ground in that case!  Having a neighbor that is a professional body man is handy to have in restoring these things.  He actually likes working on this stuff more than cars now in his older age!  There has not been a piece of sheet metal that he has not been able to fix yet!

Boy, that's valuable having a body man that lives next door Myron! My body man isn't next door, but he's only a mile down the road from the plant I work in, so visiting him to drop stuff off is easy at lunch time or after work. So far, he's fixed or changed over pretty much anything that I drop off. He does a lot of custom car work along with restoration work, so his paints jobs are incredible! He's working on my G hood, and he also has some WF parts that he's working on for me also.

I went to 3 body shops before and they all told me that tractor tin was not something they would work on.
So I welded in the patches I needed. Not perfect but I need to start somewhere!

The Support Ribs are the worst thing...

Thanks Ray. I went to the local body shop and he's charging $400 to straighten both fenders and the cowling. Cowling is the hardest since it has a crease right beside the emblem. He seemed confident about straightening it. And said welding up the tore fender would be an easy fix.

I have a set of fenders that were on a D14. They have the headlight and work light holes. One fender has a small dent by the work light hole. You have to look for it to notice it. No surface rust, no bends, as perfect as you can get. On the fence. Should I keep or should I sell.  I could put them on my early D14, but they are not correct for that tractor.
Would someone pay $700 for the set????

All D14 fenders are the same.  None of them had lights mounted on the fender (except for the bullet style tail lights on the back).  Over the years, someone probably drilled holes in them to put lights there.

I have dealt in buying and selling some fenders.  $700 for a set is out of this world in my opinion.  I know good fenders bring more money, but for that price, I would expect them to have the holes and dents fixed, painted to match my tractor, and for you to come here to install them on the tractor.

So no fenders that fit a D14 had an oval hole cut into it? One fender I have does and has the holes for the headlights. Bullet lights will not fit in this hole. I think these are replacement fenders that are not original to the tractor based on the color.

The good news is new ones are available for less money aren't they?

Lonn a few years ago I looked everywhere for a ser of replacement d15 fenders and they just didn't make then. Mine where truly beyond repair all the ribs rusted to nothing at all falling off the tractor and dented just junk so I bought a set of d17 reproduction fenders. They are close enough for my tractor as it is a work tractor and I mostly just want a place to put my hand when driving.

Did you have to modify the D17 fenders to make them work on a D14?

They are and I have them on the wall next to my NOS WD grill and fender. Just not right for my early D14 restore.

My d15 has a loader and the fenders are mounted out on the loader hangers to give me more room or they will be pretty soon so everything is custom. But you do have to modify the setup to hang them the ribs on the d17 fenders are different even though the overall size is about the same. I had a picture once of the two fenders one sitting inside the other almost the same length but the d15 curls in more at the top and the d17 has more of a corner.

D17 Fenders are bigger than a D14.  D17 and 19 fenders are the same.  D14 and D15 fenders are the same (except for the headlight mounts for the D15 II).  D10 and D12 fenders are the same - modified versions of the D14 fender.

That is a d15 fender sitting inside the d17 fenders on my d17 I figured it was close enough for a working tractor after looking at it for a while.
