 I always completely disassemble a WC rear end if I open it up for any reason, this is about the third cross I've seen worn like this. This whole tractor looked to have had pretty good care, no signs of leaks or water in anything, just a lot of hours.

Gary, in this particular tractor three of the spider gears looked good and the fourth had some teeth missing, both side gears looked good and the ring and pinion was just nicely polished, all the bearings still looked good, final drive gears were good, but this was an early one with the keyed pinion on the axle and the ends of the axles and keyways were pretty well gone. The transmission looked good inside with no signs of ever having water in it, but the brake levers and steering shafts were worn a good 1/8", the clutch pedal was worn smooth, and the steering wheel was worn down at the 11:00 and 5:00 o clock positions, someone got a lot of work out of this old girl, but did the best they could to maintain her. All the fluids were full and clean and from the looks of the drain and fill plugs, they were used often. with Fields, yes, this is the spider from an early WC with the coarse tooth side and spider gears.
