Ok I have an odd problem with the 7040. The upper hinge on the back glass came apart. All of the "tabs" on the glass side tore. I cannot find anything online on a replacement hinge bracket. The other issue then would be that the original is riveted on. If I did get another braket could I rivet it one without breaking the glass? Thank you for the all the help as always.

I put a back new glass in my 7040 some years ago,i will have to go look at it but im pretty sure i used small 3/16 bolts instead of rivets beacause of the worry of breaking the glass.

I also had to replace the back glass in mine, was able to get the plastic hinge from Eisenmanns in Madison Ne. and I also used small bolts instead of rivits. has held good for past 10 years or so.

I'm not aware of anyone that offers the hinge other than Agco. The last glass that I got from A&I was just a bare glass, no hardware. I have always riveted the pieces back on with no problems. The hinge is kind of expensive for no more than it amounts to.

Thank you for the help. I will call the dealer. And I am not the brave type so I think I will bolt it in.

I have repaired a few of those hinges. I cut a little notch where the piece breaks out and then I take a tig welder and weld a 1/8 welding rod in it. By laying the end of the rod in this little notch it gives more welding surface. After welding take small grinder with a sanding pad sand over til the rods you weld in are flat and with a little paint it will look pretty good.JP

It won't break if you put a washer on the end of the rivet. It will need some little bushings to fill in the holes. You can make these from a small rubber hose.JP

Except if it goes a while without being oiled the piano hinge will get stiff. At least that's my thought. The old hinge was made so you can lift the windows off easily if needed or wanted.
I re-rivited the window on my brother's 7030 without any problem. My 7050 has a loose one so that will be next.
