Looked at a HD6E serial 11724 today.Very nice condition,as new undercarriage,no leaks,no dents, everything straight, angle blade with hyd.tilt.Guy used it as a farm cat in 60's-70's.Since then only used to plow snow in winter. What year would this be and what engine,AC or Buda? Also value. Will try to get a picture.  Thanks

1959 serial numbers 10054 to 12505 The HD344 motor was a buda type produced by Allis Chalmers. The motor change from the HD344 to the 6000 motor was at s/n 13322 You can identify the HD344 motor by the injectors position on the side of the cylinder head. The 6000 & 7000 motors have the injectors on the top of the head.

Make sure your clutches and brakes are functioning properly. A gentleman from Washington state who was an avid Caterpillar guy told me "in a lot of ways, the Allis Chalmers HD-6 was a better choice than the Caterpillar D-4". I went with his advice and bought (2) HD-6's,  a B and an E. He was right.
