I am going to look at a 3 point 8 wheel rake tomorrow. Dunno exactly what to look for and the price seems pretty reasonable when compared to a side delivery. I'm Looking for something to rake a few acres for my RotoBaler. How does this type of Rake perform?

you should look at the wheels. see how bad they are beat up. are the tines all there on the wheels. also are the bearings good in the wheels.
 
the only trouble i can think of for the 3 point type is if your ground is uneven it will be tough to rake the hay. otherwise they are good rakes.

my neighbor has a 3-pt rake, he says it works good on flat ground, but sucks on his hilly ground. his is also the big round wheels.

I have a lot of flat ground but it does have some ridges were the previous owner didn't flatten it out well after plowing it. I am imagine without a guide wheel the rig moves up and down as a front wheels of the tractor follow the ground contours I can see your point about hilly ground being a problem. Now I need to think about this. Thanks for the help.

Well I bought it anyway.  Dunno if it was a good deal or not, but it looks like it will work okay for my ground.  It is actually two 3 point rakes joined by a single 3 pt frame - you can take off either side and use separately or use them together on the main frame.  It is a Tonutti - I think the model of the individual 4 wheel sections is P4, so maybe the entire assembly would be a P8?  I need one tine and a couple of bearing caps, can't seem to find them on the interweb, at least not yet.
