The tag should be on the frame on the right side where you climb into cab. It'll start with D. Ours is D427, which makes it a 1949.

[IMG]uploads/10101/MVC-026S.JPG[/IMG The aluminum tag will be riveted to the R.H. side of the frame where you step into the operators platform.   Ross.

Post your ser# and I can tell you the year and what engine you have in it. The D graders used the WD/WD45/ D17 engines.
3 WD45's with power steering,G,D15 fork lift,D19, W-Speed Patrol, "A" Gleaner with a 330 corn head,"66" combine,roto-baler, and lots of Snap Coupler implements to make them work for their keep.

D3824 would be 1954 and it would have the G226 engine that was used in the WD45 farm tractor. From the picture it almost looks as if it has a square frame. The square frame didn't start until 1964. If it is a diesel engine and it is a DD grader then s/n 3842 would make it a 1967 model. The serial number shown does start with a D so I am confused. Perhaps the old round tube frame failed and they rebuilt it with a square frame. More pictures please.

Hi Don.   You are correct with these serial numbers.
The first picture is of a round frame on a 1954 open station D grader that had just completed building a golf course in Orangeville, Ontario. The second picture is of my grader. This square framed, 1967 'D Special' is now an open stationed unit.
I am sorry for the confusion. I was trying to explain where the units serial numbers are located.

Sorry Ross. Late at night and I didn't look at who was posting the pictures. I guess I just assumed that it was the original poster.

If you can't find the tag on the grader. You might look on top of the hydraulic control box. That's where I found ours.
