Hi guys-Just picked up an early 60's TL-12.

Who out there has worked on one that I can pick their brain every once in a while?

Thanks

I'm surprised at the lack of response on the TL 12. I haven't owned or repaired one but I could give a few specs ....... What in particular do you need for it (maybe the list is too long...LOL)?

Eric-Mine is a Series II I believe as it has 4 headlights, D17 engine, etc.  Serial number is in the 3000 range.  Do you have a book stating what year this would be?

Cal-How does the lever by a person's left leg work?  When you apply that does it act as a method to knock the transmission out of gear and keep it from moving?

Do you know where a parts machine might be?  Right now I am looking for a least (2) headlight steel housings and (4) rubber housings?  (see middle picture)

Terry: My serial # book doesn't go back quite far enough to include yours......should be somewhere up to 1964. The parts for the lights you may be able to get through an industrial/automotive/truck supply store. From the picture the parts look quite familiar to current lights available such as Grote brand etc. I believe the lights are exactly the same on all the TL models so if you find anyone of the models for wrecking they should match.
My literature talks about a lever on the operator's right side that when applied the tranny cuts out immediately when you touch the brake pedal and works again when you take your foot off the pedal.
For its age it looks to be in good shape on that picture.

The original parts have "Hobbs" in the rubber molding.  Hobbs was sold to Stewart-Warner and then Honeywell.  Honeywell sold them and the new company in the Carolina isn't returning my messages.  Maybe Grote has something similar...

Here is a JD light housing I picked up off of ebay but my JD buddies can't tell me what it is off of (this is a Hobbs part too).

I'll  have to check the other JD lights you mention...are they the ones that mount on the SoundGard cab fenders?

Thanks
Terry

Look at the guys at General Gear http://www.tractorparts.com/
I've found them quite helpful in old machinery parts they may know where to get you those...

I've got the previous generation TL12, don't know what all is the same or different but if you have any questions I can try to help. Have fun with that it's a great machine, Allis really made some underrated loaders...
