Here it is, VETERANS DAY, 2010, and I have some thoughts that I would like to put down. You can read them if you like, or disregard them if you like..

I am proud to have had the chance to serve my country in the military, { Army } and would do so again if I had the chance, even though I am old now and would probably be useless.

As to pride, I feel sorry for all you fella's who, for some reason or another, did not have the privilige of serving, for you will NEVER be able to have the same feelings that a VET has when the NATIONAL ANTHEM is played, or when the FLAG goes by, that a VET has in his heart and soul, and those feelings can never be taken away, no matter what.

On this VETERANS DAY, I pray for all those who have gone before, and for all those who will follow, for I know there will be many, many more in the days and years to come, as the ONLY way to keep our freedom, is to FIGHT FOR IT, and to never let up, for it is a never-ending battle.

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS, NOW AND FOREVER, please support them in any way that you can !!!!!!

This is an old post of mine, but I think it is appropiate for this forum this Memorial Day !!

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

gordon, you will probably be as happy as i am that at my high school in temecula, california the jrotc program is absolutely thriving.  2 xlnt gentlemen run it - an air force colonel & an af msgt and both represent all the services quite well.  many of my students are selecting the military as a first choice career option, not a second choice or even last resort as it has sometimes been presented in the past.
i'm a vietnam era vet and am glad the respect for the military has risen back up to where it should be... at least from my perspective here in southern california.
52 CA, 41 B and a little B1    oh, yeah... and an 8N ford snuck in there, too.

I cannot tell you how proud I am to read this post and understand that I am one - A VET!
While I served when there was no active war taking place - except the Cold War - I still have all those feelings described above.
I remember one time at our table one said "Let's discuss the Iraq War".
My answer was simply "It is simple for me.  Where our troops are there is my support.  Not necessarily for why we are there but for the troops that are there.  They deserve our full and complete support."
Funny, there was no further discussion.
I am very happy to see the support our troops receive today.
Have a great day all real Vet's.
Good Luck!
Bill Long

This is a time we need to pause and reflect on the sacrifices of all who have served our country in the military, especially those who did not make it back home, and for their families also. I was blessed to be able to serve 6 years in the Air Force and then 30 in the Army National Guard.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

As a fellow Vet (Viet-Nam) I too agree that the patriotism is back where it belongs.  To all who have served and are now serving, THANK YOU!
God Bless and keep you all safe!

I always thank the veterans. I especially go out of my way for the WWII vets. They are leaving us at an alarming rate. My neighbor was a WWII vet, his health is failing but his heart is always in the right place. God Bless them all, they gave me the rights  to live my dreams. Tracy Martin
