How fast are you planning to pull it, which type of IH planter are you talking about?
It probably will do fine, but hydro, and or electrics may be an issue.

I pulled a 6 row IH with Fert tanks with a 44 MH for 5 years over 500 ac/yr. A wd45 with some weights will do anything a 44 MH will and more I've had both. It was a older plate planter.

2nd or 3rd gear. its a 60's or 70's plate planter. only hydraulics is up or down, which I have, just no down pressure. Un weighted, unloaded tires. sandy clay

My Dad planted for years with a WD45 and a 694 (6-30" rows) JD planter with dry fertilizer and did just fine. I think he planted in 3rd gear. I still have his WD45 but the planter went to China years ago.

corn planters dont 'pull' very hard, its the ability of the tractor to lift the unit that is usually the issue. if your ground is level what have will work. if you have decent hills you may have better results will loaded tires

I pull a 6 row IH 400 air planter, with my 45, in third gear no problem at all, and that is while running the 540 hydro pump as well. These little tractors can do a lot that people don't think they will.

I'm guessing it would be an IH model 56 planter you are trying to pull? My 45 has loaded rears and it pulled a 4R30 IH 56 planter like it wasn't even back there. Unless you have some gnarly hills I say you'll do fine. The one small issue your going to have is raising it. The ol' 45 takes a few seconds to get it in the air. You have to raise it enough to trip the marker mechanism and disengage the row units/fertilizer drive. You can just snap the hand clutch to stop it and raise it that way. If you try to do it while driving it will drop seed and fertilizer all over the place when you turn around on the headlands. Does your planter look like this guy, by any chance? If so its a IH 56.

i planted with a allis 600 4 row 30'' with liquid and a d17 with no weights but it had duals the problems i had was told above was it took to long to raise and 60 gal of gas for 60 acres of corn.

If you can find an Allis hydraulic cylinder it will raise and lower just fine. I have the one Dad used on our planters, plows and other pull type equipment, it raises quickly enough.
I just replanted 15 acres of corn with my series I D17 and a 4 row 30 notill planter. I didn't use 5 gallons of gas and I had some road time between fields.
I know with fertillizer your planter pulls a little harder than mine, there is no way you should have used a gallon of fuel per acre unless something was wrong or you were going uphill each way. LOL
I don't think my 17 will use a gallon per acre pulling 3 - 16's.
It does raise a little slow because the planter uses two "modern" lift cylinders. one on each wheel.
