Hello fellas,
Was talkin with Brett last nite, asked him where to find the serial no. on my D14. he explained that it should be on the left front flat of the torque tube under the air cleaner. Well as my luck goes I clean the area off and find nothing......Any ideas??? Thanks Darrell

Are you looking at the angled flat at the front of the torque tube? Its where the engine and side rails bolt to the torque tube. You may have to scrape the paint off if its been painted a few times.

This picture has white tape where the number is supposed to be stamped.

The engine serial number should be stamped right in front of that on the left rear flange of the block.

The 149 4038 M would be the Engine Serial No. 149 cu.in.
Forget what the M designation is. Gary

Darrell: From your picture it looks like the battery leaked at one time and pitted the casting. I have seen that before on these tractors, but there are plenty of other clues to help figure out what year it is. A parts manual will help quite a bit. Things like the PTO lever, hydraulic control linkage, grill, electrical system, etc. all changed at least once during D14 production, and matching them up with the parts book will help you narrow it down. I'd guess that you are pretty close with your 38XX guess. |
