B service manual hydraulic confusion

I'm finishing up a hydraulic installation and the service manual is confusing the heck out of me.  I have the three way valve shown on page 43 in the bottom picture.  The line from the pump to the valve clearly (but faded) comes from what is labelled the upper plug on page 46.  I guess the question is: do you just plug and ignore the hole that is marked outlet to ram on page 46, and run the line as drawn on page 43?  If so, then what about the parts that are in the upper plug hole according to the exploded view on page 44?

Wish one of the books would at least mention the three way valve beyond one label on a picture.

I have some lit on B hydl .Don,t know all your set up  but what i understand  the supply to the three way valve is the same  as to the reagular cyl. The three way lets you operate  two differnt cyl ,one at a time. PS had trouble with my pump  ,would not hold or let down correct .Got local machine shop to reface  seat on relief valve works like a charm and only five bucks.

DidGood,  There are two holes in the B seat frame to the left of center.  That is where the diversion valve is attached.  You may want to install the hoses and tubes before attaching it firmly.  There should be a tube that goes from the outlet opening on the pump to the center opening on the diversion valve.  The right hand ram goes to the right hand opening and the left hand ram goes to the left hand opening. 
Putting the selector in the center will lift both rams or both plows.  Putting the selector to the right will lift or lower the right hand ram or plow and hold the left hand ram or plow.  Putting the selector to the left will lift or lower the left hand ram or plow. 
That was the way we did it in the 40's.  Now the attachment to the pump may have to be a hose but other than that it is all there is to it.  Be certain you have a hose that will handle 3300 psi.
I sure installed enough of them after WWII.

Thanks for the snappy response.

Bill, my question was on the outlet opening on the pump.  That's where the book has me bamboozled.  The plug that is horizontal and points past the back of the right rear tire is labelled as the outlet to the ram.  However, the book shows the diversion valve connected to the vertical plug closest to the right rear tire on top of the pump.

So, is the art wrong in the book, or is the diversion valve hooked to the pump at a different location than a single ram?

  Yes, you should plug the rear outlet and plumb the selector/diverter valve to the outlet on the top of the pump.  On the top of the pump are three plugs arranged in a triangle.  The one closest to the tire is the outlet.  The items shown in the exploded view are pressed into the pump body through this hole and should not be a problem.

  As Bill Long points out, be sure to connect the center port on the selector valve to the pump outlet.  The selector valve mounts to the seat frame using the same bolts that hold the hydraulic control lever to the seat frame.
