Guys and Gals, how do you sharpen your L306 Woods blades? I used to take them off but last year I tried touching them up while laying on the ground. I have a HF probably 4 or 5 or 6 inch grinder but wondering what y'all use without taking blades off, or do y'all take them off? I usually sharpen mine 3 times a summer on each of my 4 mowers. Maybe I need an air grinder? Thanks! Dana

I take mine off every fall sharpen and balance them. During the summer I just touch up with a 4" angle grinder. only doo that about once a month. I only use woods blades and have one extra set. they are very tough and don't require much. I've mowed 20 clat brick some one dumped in the ditch at our church and didn't cause any noticable damage.

I also have a 2nd set. Then I only have to switch the blade when I need to, usually half-way through the summer. It all depends on whether or not I hit a hidden branch or scalp the ground or something like that. Then I can sharpen the dull set on the bench with an angle grinder. For the amount of work it takes to get under the deck, it just as easy to switch the blades as it is to try and touch them up from underneath the deck.

Ya, I take them off to sharpen them. I use a six point socket and an impact tool. They zip tight off.

bought a little one handed air grinder that also takes wire brushes wondering how much i'd use it. as with virtually every new tool i've ever bought, i now wonder how i ever got along without it. handy, handy, handy.

I'm like most of the others. I've got an extra set so I just rotate them at least twice a year. I can change them by myself, but it sure helps to have someone else up top to hold the spindle from turning when you're trying to get the bolt loose.
I take them off and back home to the bench grinder usually. I've got a slap-disc on my 4" hand grinder that I used on my JD 60" deck blades. I may try that next time.
