Just bought a 83 series snap coupler plow very good shape solid bottoms. It doesn't,t have a gauge wheel and wondering if that is a must? Going to pull it with a series 11 D-17 and just plan on using wheel weights and no fluid in tires, soil is fairly heavy. Hope to get photo bucket down loaded to show my project!

If you have a long landslide on the back bottom it doesn't need a gauge wheel. The long landslide controls the depth and is adjustable. Mike

As long as it has a long landside on the rear bottom with a properly adjusted slip heel, it should be fine. The gauge wheel option just makes adjustments a little easier and there are less wear parts to buy.
