just bought a 48' C ..can someone please explain the cover that is missing on the exhaust/intake manifold please? does that cavity go straight in to the head?

That sounds like the spec plate for the engine. Won't effect how it runs. Mine is missing too.

That cover has no function. It had tune up specifications on it. After market manifolds don't have it.

sounds like trouble then ..i got fire flying out of mine must be a busted exhaust manifold

No. the manifolds were the same. The heat box bolted on where the spec cover went.
