Hello everyone, new member here. I have a 5050 2wd and I am having some trouble with the lift arms. They will not raise. The aux hydraulics work fine so I don't think I am having any pump issues. Any one have an idea what the problem might be and how to go about repairing it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

don't know for certain if a 5050 is the same as a 5040, but there are certain control levers on the right side that need to be in the right position for the 3-pt to work correctly.
in conjunction with those levers, there's also a draft sensing spring on the top-link assembly that has a block that is either engaged or disengaged depending on what type of implement you're using.
It swings into one position effectively locking out the draft sensing; or swings out of the way for the spring to allow sensing.
might be able to scan some pages in if needed.

Thanks for the replies. The fluid level was the first thing I checked, it's just a little over-full. We have also tried moving the draft controls and that did not help the problem. Is there a check valve or maybe a stuck control valve that could be causing the problem?

In the center of the control valve, under the aux control lever shaft, there is a plug you need to remove, under it is a spring and a valve that is stuck. remove valve and clean. You may have to remove aux control to get wrench on plug to remove. this plug is between the top mounting studs, nuts, that holds the control valve housing on the lift arm housing. I usally sand paper the valve and have used a brake hone turning by hand to clean the bore.

Well Sam T, I checked the valve that you told me about. It was free as a bird, not stuck at all! My son and myself dug into it a little deeper and we found that if we moved the linkage inside the lift housing through the access hole on the top of the housing, the arms would go up. My brother had used the tractor to pull some logs recently. He put a grab hook with a ring on it on the top link pin. I think some of the linkage for the drafting control was bent when he was pulling a heavy log. Do you or anyone else have any drawings or pic's that show the linkage or do you know of a site that I can find it? I realy think it's not a mechanical problem, just a linkage problem now.
