We attended an auction yesterday near Lake Odessa, Michigan. The equipment was in excellent condition. Never been stored outdoors. Tractor prices were as follows: 1970 AC 180 gas, WF - $4450; 1957 AC WD45 w/ loader, narrow front - $2800; 1954 WD45 WF - $2050. Equipment prices were: AC grain drill - $1000; AC 2 row planter SC - $500; AC sickle mower - $600; AC model 86 scraper blade - $800; AC 1 row corn picke - $500; AC model 66 combine - $725; picker shields @ $210 a pair; AC 10' disk - $800. IH 1480D combine (looked almost like new) went for $7500. Nicest line of AC stuff I'd seen in a long time! Mitch & Barb in West Michigan

This theory applies to any color of farm equipment. It's quite simple: If the stuff is in excellent condition, it is going to bring higher prices.
Personally, I'm willing to pay more for something that has been well maintained and in excellent condition.

My family is from the area near Lake Odessa and my mom and dad went to school there. The equipment probably came from the dealer that used to be in Woodland and was called Neitenhammer, (sp). My grandpa bought from them and I have a WC from there. After he retired from farming my grandpa did field work for the former owener of the AC dealer, (it was gone by then). Thats where I got to drive a 7060 plowing. A lot of my relatives still live in that area. Good memories.
I agree on auction prices. You look around and see the guy took care of his manure spreader than the tractors probably in pretty good shape too. I bid on a Ford 7710 that look in very good condition to $14,300 the other day and that was over $2,000 more than the Ford guys said it was worth and I didn't get it. But, the tractor and other things at the sale were in good shape.

i was at an auction at a JD dealer, they were getting rid of most of the trade-ins there, they were selling an AC 190 gas, i bid up to $5000...went for $9000. whew! lol overheard some guy behind me saying...$$$ for a ***king AC??? turned to him and said...yep!! smiled and walked on!

Well, I guess the fellow behind you has no idea just how good a machine the 190's are. And please don't remind me about trans/differential problems, as long as you know how to treat a piece of equiptment, it's a non-factor in the picture. Those 190's served many folks really well.

Prices dont seem out of line, if it was nice and original i could see the wd45 wide front bringing 3K , if the hours were decent that was adeal on the 1480, If you buy good , you got good, you by junk you have junk.

!!!X2!!! I would only add that to buy junk and try to make it good is even worse.
Not being the smartest apple to fall off the tree it took me a few money pits to figure it out.
