We have this 53 WD with a shift tower that looks like it has three dowl pins in it, I have never seen one like it. Has anybody else seen one like it, or know what the reason for them is?

They almost look like casting vents that weren't trimmed off, but I see what you mean that they look like dowel pins.

John, I have never seen another one like it but I am relativley new to this "Tractor Disease" I'm sure someone on here has seen it before. I have one more picture of it.

They look like they are threaded and they are directly over the detent balls and springs.
Seems like a lot of work to go thru just to make the job of installing those pesky springs and balls easier than from the underside?
