My 6080 had some of the Deutz-Allis decals left on it. I got them off with no problem. The only problem is someone else had tried to take them off and left a film of sticky residue on the Allis decals. When I tried to use the heat gun to take it off it gets the Allis decal too hot. How can I get this residue off? Any help would be appreciated. rrhead(SD)

Scrub it with gas or paint thinner. You will have to do it several times because the gooey stuff will build up on your rag. I would try not to get it on the edges of the AC decal. |

Mine was peeled off long ago but still has residue. Have you tried some paint thinner? It might work if the residue is still sticky.

3-M makes a spray that will remove the decals and the glue, just spray on, let sit till it bubbles, and wipe off, careful, as it don't take long, and if left on, it'll take the paint too! used it on police cars, works really good!

The universal answer to all questions is yes, how much do you want to spend?

If the residue is still sticky, WD40 will remove it, where paint thinner will just gum it up. That is how we removed the muffler sticker on Skip Welte's C project at the Gathering last year. Dave.

If it's still sticky; peanut butter works pretty good & will not hurt the other decal.

Thanks for all the replies. I will give the ones I have a try first. If I need too I will look for the 3m and goo gone. I'll save the peanut butter for last. I kind of like eating that the best! rrhead(SD)
