Can anyone tell me if or why a D14 tach will not work on a series III D10 with range trans?
Thanks for any help. |

I don't know, maybe gear ratio or RPM difference?
I just bought one for the D10 - D12 from Tonys tractors, very nice.

The RPM will indicate the same and be correct, the MPH in each gear will be different.
If that is not a requirement, no problem.

Becker, The one Tony`s has is for D10-D12 up to serial 9000 series II. I have the series III with Hi-LO trans which uses a different tach.
Joe, I was thinking it would work, the mph might be off a little, not important, just want to make sure the rotation of the cable was the same. I think the face of the tach looks nearly the same. |

Not sure if it would work, but the D-10 & 12 series one & 2 have different faces for the 4 speed VS 8 range tranny.

We sell the one for the early D10 & D12 which comes with the bracket. They do not make one for the later series III with range transmission. I have used the D14 D15 Tach on my D10 & D12 which have the range trans and the work just fine. You will have to make your own bracket, but not a big deal. The cable attaches same as the D14 / D15 and they share the same 149 cu in engine, so RPM is the same. Ground speed may be off a little, but then again changing tires sizes will change it also. Sold this setup to a dozen customers and all were happy. Best of all the D14/D15 tach sells for only $75.00 verses the early D10 / D12 4 speed tach which is around $180.00 Also have the tach cables if anyone is interested.
